Paul Bruno is an experienced trial lawyer with Barrett, Johnston, Martin & Garrison, LLC in Nashville, Tennessee. Mr. Bruno has practiced law since 1996, and he focuses his practice on federal criminal defense and government investigations, with an emphasis on white collar cases. He also handles business litigation and personal injury matters.
A veteran of trials and appeals in state and federal courts throughout the state, Mr. Bruno has achieved notable success advocating on behalf of those charged with a wide range of felony and misdemeanor charges, including drug crimes, DUI, murder, RICO, conspiracy, bank robbery, sex offenses, bank fraud, health care fraud, mortgage fraud and other white collar crimes.
Mr. Bruno graduated magna cum laude in 1992 from the University of Memphis with a Bachelor of Business Administration degree. He received his Master of Business Administration degree from the University of Memphis and his Juris Doctor degree from the University of Memphis Cecil C. Humphreys School of Law in 1995. He is admitted to practice before the U.S. District Courts for the Middle and Western Districts of Tennessee, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 6th Circuit and the U.S. Supreme Court. He has also handled matters in Georgia, Kentucky, Nebraska, Ohio, Texas, Virginia, and Washington, D.C.
A consummate professional, Mr. Bruno is highly active with several professional legal organizations, including the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers, and he has served as president of the Tennessee Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers. Widely regarded as a leader in his field, he routinely conducts lectures and continuing legal education seminars on a variety of legal topics, focusing many of his presentations on jury selection in criminal cases.
Recognized for his success and his exceptional legal abilities, Mr. Bruno has earned numerous awards and honors throughout his career. He received the Joe B. Jones Award in 2015, Capital Defense Award in 2013 and the Robert W. Ritchie Service Award in 2011 from the Tennessee Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers. He also received the Lawyer of the Year Award from the Middle District of Tennessee Criminal Justice Act Panel in 2004.
